In Conversation with: Maxwell Murombo

Meet photographer and aspiring actor, Maxwell Murombo.

Where did your passion for photography come from?

I loved and still love the entertainment industry up to now. So, I thought I could start off with photography before I venture into acting and all.

What would you say sets you apart from other photographers out there?

My work is out of passion and I enjoy it. So, besides money, I do make sure the customer and I like what we produce.

Who inspires your work?

Tbo-touch, his work shows how one can make it out there if you are focused and keep working on your goals. He shows BLACK-EXCELLENCE !!

Where is your favourite place to take photos from?

Lions head Mountain in Cape Town, It gives one of the best views.

Of all the photographs, you have ever taken which one is your favourite?

It was just a picture I took as I walked through some place in Harare. It shows how the kids are okay with what they have and how they’re creating happiness with the little they have.

What is the most important thing you consider when taking a photograph?

The object should be fully focused. The picture must not make you guess of what the photographer wanted to take.

Who are your favourite photographers and why them?

David LaChapelle, Trey Ratcliff I have learnt one or two things from their works that has helped me up to now.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

I can’t live without my gadgets (laptop, camera and phone) that is where all my work is based and I use them daily.

Given the chance who in the world would you want to photograph?

Angel Haze, in a situation whereby I was alone and nothing went well. I felt like giving up on life until I listened to one of her albums. It moved me, it felt like she was talking to me and I never gave up. If not for her, I wouldn’t be here now, I would have been history.

Where in the world would be your dream place to go, and take photos?

Thailand.

What are you most fond of about being Zimbabwean?

Our nation is filled with creative people who are eager for success. We interact with people like we have known them for a while. Lastly it is the peace within us.
