Pastor Marowa is 32-year-old, Pastor, gospel musician, mother, an entrepreneur and a journalist by profession.
What is your earliest memory of you singing?
I started singing at a very tender age, leading songs in Sunday school and primary school choir. I also remember composing songs for drama at school and I would lead them.
What do you hope people will take away from listening to your music?
I want to witness transformation and inner blessings in people’s lives. Those in chains have them broken by listening to my music.
How was it working on your recent album Yahweh and which tracks are the most memorable for you?
I worked with 2 producers on my album Lyton Ngolomi (Lyton Studios) and Bheki Nqoko (Kuwe records, South Africa). I did 8 songs with Lyton Ngolomi and then did Mweya Mutsvene with Bheki Nqoko. On the song I also featured mom Deborah Fraser (South Africa) and I launched the album on the 30th of August 2019.
Where do you get the inspiration for your songs?
God has been my inspiration, whenever I meditate upon His word, I always get some revelation that lead me to compose a song or two. I also look at my surroundings and at times my life experiences.
Who have been your most memorable people to work with and who would you like to work with in the future?
I have worked with several people since I ventured into music. I started as a backing for Kudzi Nyakudya, I also worked with Sabastian Magacha, Bishop Blessing Shumba, Fungisai Mashavave, Rev Chivaviro, Bethany Pasinawako and Rumbidzai Zvirikuzhe just to mention a few. In the future I look forward to getting in the studio with the people I call my musical parents (The Charambas).
What have been the highs and lows of your career so far?
The highs of my musical Journey is when I got awarded for the Best Female Gospel Musician (Permican Awards 2015) and Best Contemporary Music (Midlands Music Awards 2016). The lows would be when I lost my husband who was my manager in 2017.
How are you keeping yourself busy during the lockdown?
I’ve been spending time with family, helping my kids with home schooling (quite challenging), composing new songs, praying, reading. As well as watching a lot of performances done by different musicians Live on Facebook.
What words of wisdom would you offer to people on how to get through the current crisis?
I just want to give people this scripture as an encouragement Isaiah 65 vs 24: “And It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”
This is an assurance we are having from the word of God that he hears and answers our prayers. All we have to do is to pray and remain steadfast in the Lord.
How would you like to be remembered?
I want to be remembered for my legacy of preaching the Gospel through music. To have people testify of how their lives got a turnaround through my music.
