Bryan Johnson - producer

Bryan Johnson is a 20-year-old Zimbabwean rapper, singer, songwriter, graphic designer and producer from Sunningdale, Harare.

How would you describe your style of music?

When it comes to style honesty, I can’t say I’m a hip hopper or trapper I can simply say I’m a creative artist simply because I jump on any genre and do the most, but of course I have my limits.

What work have you done as a rapper/graphic designer and producer?

As a rapper I have worked with Ashta FM, Ashta Eez, Danegy, Kross and many more. I have been featured in the Newsday newspaper when I performed at an album launch. Also, I have performed at Morgan High School and a lot of events like the Skoro Skoro launch and the World Dance Day Celebration where I shared the stage with MC Chita. I also shared the stage with Tamy Moyo and a lot of great artist. On the Good Cop Bad Cop podcast, I was rated as number 4 to watch on the streets and we were also featured on the Devolt Jam Cast when we dropped a Gospel rap song called Dreams against Critics.

Under graphics I have designed fliers for the multi award-winning choreographer John Cole and superstar artist Ammara Brown. I have designed art covers for BjB, Amantle Brown (Botswana), Trade Mark (SA) and a lot more. I was also awarded as best graphic designer at Makoya Entertainment Awards 2019 after designing an art cover for Lady Anne.

As a producer I focus on upcoming artists because they are not getting attention as their production is not yet good enough for the radio. I produce most of my music and I have made beats for different artist in Zim, SA, Botswana and Nigeria.

Who have been your favourite artists to work with as a producer and who would you like to work with in the future?

As a producer I enjoy working with Fm, Kross, Munashe Dove, Looda, Mulb and Danegy. I would like to work with Shashl, Lee MChoney, Hanna and Union5. Because I love their sound and the flavour they have brought into the industry.

How do you know when a track you have made has that thing?

In my case it becomes an earworm… It rings in my heard all day and even when I’m not thinking about it, I just start singing it and that way I know *issa vibe*.

Who inspires you in music?

Kehlani, Vybes Kartel, August Alsina and Jhene Aiko keep me moving.

What is the vision for your brand?

I’m a focused and committed person, my brand will be based on high quality products and it will reach all those with great ambition and vision.

What is the best advice you ever been given?

To be you no matter what, there is only one you in the entire world and the best version of you is you.

Which upcoming artists should people be on the lookout for this year?

The people should lookout for Lisayi and Caveboi this year.

What is the soundtrack to your life?

Not used to it by Kehlani

How would you like to be remembered?

I want to be remembered through the feelings and emotions I poured out in some of my songs.
