Richmond Mlambo is a 26 years old Zimbabwean entreprenuer, designer and founder of Chasers wear.

How did you come up with the name Chasers and why?

I was a sneaker addict back in Varsity and I always had problems getting clothes that would match my shoe. So, I started making my own custom t-shirts. How I came with the name was through inspiration of the music I listened to. I also  looked at every who was around me who was going after their dreams/passion/job etc. I decided to come up with the name Chasers which is a collective word that I feel brings in the youth together for a common cause, to push and chase their dreams/goals.

Where does the inspiration for your designs come from?

My designs inspiration comes from Kanye West, Andrew Lyko and Deymond Jones.

What have been the highs and lows of being an entrepreneur?

The Highs

My highs mainly have been getting to dress and style high profile people like Pokello, Ginimbi, Cassper Nyovest, Rik Rick just to mention a few.

The Lows

Being with the people who take my creativity and art for granted. Working with less serious and visionary people, who tend to always slow me down on my deadlines.

What makes your brand unique?

I guess it’s my sense of creativity and the whole merging of streetwear and athleisure sense of style.

Meaningless relationships with people.

Describe a typical day in your life.

I wake up early to set my daily schedule, call in all clients and respond to emails, check my social media updates and meet up with my production team. I don’t have a set daily routine as every day is a new challenge.

Which Entrepreneurs do you look up to?

I look up to Deymond Jones founder of FUBU and streetwear movement and how he managed to build a whole entire clothing empire. Also, Vusi Thembekwayo on how he is empowering the black child to dream, chase and achieve goals regardless of the challenges he/she facing in the community.

What are you most proud of about being Zimbabwean?

One thing I love about being Zimbabwean is the ability to dream of a favourable atmosphere.  That allows you to achieve what you want to be.

I would like to be remembered as the guy who changed the sense of style in my generation. Also someone who inspired the young generation that it is possible to dream big and still achieve it.
