I am Thandie Ncube, a content creator and a storyteller which is reflected through my YouTube channel, ThandiEffect. I feed on adventure, I love food, I am a sociable person, full of life and love.

What inspired you to start your YouTube channel, ThandiEffect?

I love videography and cinematography, and I had played around with starting my channel well beforehand. Also, I’m great at storytelling, and all these factors pushed me into telling & sharing my own life experiences. I always felt that so many people could relate to me and that they could learn so much from me.

What would you say makes your channel unique?

The one thing that is unique about my YouTube channel is that my content is timeless. One day we could be travelling, the next, we could be cooking, and the next day, sharing advice & tips on some important issues we face in society. It is diverse and there is always fresh content that my viewers can enjoy.

Who are some of your favourite content creators and what do you like about their content?

I am a huge fan of both small and big content creators from all over the world.

My absolute favourites would have to be TonyTalks, Bretman Rock & Landon Romano for their comical skits. Lee Khuzwayo, for travel vlogs; Vongai Mapho for makeup and lifestyle content; Grace Ajilore for her storytelling, clothing hauls and skits and last but not least Kelly Stamps for her personality, to name a few!

How do you come up with the concepts for your videos?

To be honest, it all comes to me naturally. One idea comes with three or four more, for instance, when I record a Travel Vlog, I can also record a “Get Ready with Me” video to go with it.

What has been your favourite video to work on so far?

I absolutely loved my Inyanga Vlog. From recording to editing, interacting with my audience in the comments about their experiences from there as well. Also, how some of them had never been, but because of my vlog, they were planning on going there soon, it was truly magical!

Where do you see your brand in the future?

I would love for my YouTube Channel, ThandiEffect, to be the go-to page for all who wish to travel. It will help many decide on their next vacation!  I would love for it to be informative, enjoyable, and entertaining. I would love for my brand to inspire aspiring content creators, namely travel vloggers.

What do you want people to get from watching your content?

I want to evoke emotion out of my audience. I want them to fall in love with a holiday destination through my vlogs, I want them to learn how to cook a certain dish that they would have seen on my channel and I want them to laugh their hearts out when I tell a hilarious and yet educational story.

What is your favourite thing about being a content creator?

I love and appreciate it when my viewers reach out to tell me how much they love my content, and when I interact with them in the comments’ section. Their engagement and unwavering support has been amazing from the very beginning, and there is nothing quite like knowing that they appreciate the hard work that comes with recording and editing my content.

What opportunities have come your way from being a content creator?

I have met so many other content creators and collaborated with a few of them.

I have created lifelong relationships since starting my YouTube journey and it’s been amazing to watch us all grow together.

Who are the rocks in your life?

My family and friends. Their love and support keep me going!

What is the one thing that you can’t live without?

That is, indubitably, chocolate and music. I am indulging in both while writing this interview!

What are the songs you listen to the most?

Erykah Badu – Orange Moon

Bryson Tiller – Next to you, The Sequence

PartyNextDoor – Peace of Mind, Damage, Joy

What advice would you give to your younger self?

What are you most proud of about being Zimbabwean?

I am most proud of the beautiful heritage and culture we possess. I am especially proud of the scenic places around Zimbabwe and I cannot wait to visit every single one of them.

How would you like to be remembered?
