Tinaye Munyawiri is an introvert with a knack for words and storytelling. I have a degree in English and communication and I’m currently doing my master’s in media. I like story telling it’s always been my thing since I was a kid. I am a writer and a really good one I’d like to believe.
Where did your passion for writing come from?
English was one of the few subjects I was really good at in school and my teachers always applauded me for my writing skills, so that’s how I figured I enjoyed writing and from there it was my safe place.
How would you describe your style of writing?
My style of writing is extremely expressive, I try to say out what I’m feeling or thinking through my paper and pen, or phone lol.
Who would you say inspires you in life?
As cliche as it may be I have two sources of inspiration my mom and my friend Zelipah.
If you could give something up for a year what would it be and why?
My phone, I’m so techno dependent it scares me.
What is your most favourite work you have done so far?
My poetry, I’m still working on it and I think my collection is pretty impressive.
What is your greatest achievement in life so far?
I am completing my master’s degree and I’m below 25.
What inspires what you write?
Life experiences inspire what I write, I like writing about what I go through, what I’ve seen or heard and mostly I like sharing other people’s stories.
Who are your favourite writers and why them?
Rupi Kaur and Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche because they speak a language I understand.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In the next 5years I see myself doing what I love and being successful from it.
What advice do you have for aspiring writers/bloggers?
Go for it, enjoy it and let it take care of you.
What is the soundtrack to your life?
My life soundtrack is Black is beautiful by Mayyadda.
What are you most proud of about being Zimbabwean?
We are a hardworking people that really makes me proud.
