Who is Fluid?
I was born on 20 Feb 1993 by two civil servants, a teacher and a police officer. I found myself becoming a performer at primary school. When my parents died when I was grade 6 that’s when I ventured into music. The music kept me going, it was all I had. After dropping my apprentice in 2013 that’s when I started becoming more serious with my music career, I contested in a Zim hip hop awards competition and won. Since then I have been underground trying to improve and now it’s time.
Where did your passion for music come from?
I always wanted to be the Albert Einstein of music and bring new things to the world in terms of sound.
What type of an artist are you?
I want to be the best, educate and inspire people. Tell the truth in all my songs and develop the way people think. The money and awards yes, but it’s not my first goal.
Which three people would you say inspire you in your career and in life?
Tehn Diamond, Albert Einstein, Fella Kuti.
What can we expect from you in 2017?
An Ep, mixtape and about 4 singles.
What is your greatest achievements in life so far?
I have managed to develop my skills and ability to the extent of telling myself that in two years I will win a Grammy.
Who are the rocks in your life?
Jesus is the only rock I know in my life.
Where does the inspiration for your songs come from?
I sing about my life mostly and the lives of people around me. sometimes I just go and sit at Copacabana and see what’s going on and write.
What is your favourite song and why?
Gentleman by Fella Kuti. It just teaches me to be who I am; I am an African man I don’t need to follow trends.
If not for music what else would you be doing?
I would be running for president, I love politics.
What do you hope people take away from listening to your music?
I hope people will start believing in themselves more, because I started from nothing to something, rejection from relatives, living in the streets. Boldness, persistence, practice. that’s all I want to seed in the minds of all who listen to my music.
Given the opportunity which artist would you like to work with?
Sulu Chimbeto. Kendrick Lamar and Wizkid.
Who are your favourite Zim artists?
Brian Kadengu and Tamy.
Where in the world would you like to perform and why?
America, because there are a lot of opportunities there and it’s in the spotlight, the whole world will see you faster.
What are you most fond of about being Zimbabwean?
Zimbabwe is rich in culture. Born open minded ready to learn and be better.
Describe a typical day in your life.
Workout. read a book a day. write a verse. eat. meditation. Watching an episode of my favourite series and push my music that’s all.
What is the biggest lesson you have learnt in your career and in life so far, that you wished you knew sooner?
Time flies, I regret of every second I wasted not doing music. I used to put my energy in other things I was not really good at.
