Who is Tino Chinyani and what is he all about?

Tino Chinyani is a young, motivated, ambitious, hardworking individual who’s driven by his dreams. Currently studying a double major in marketing and management.  I’ve always perceived the world differently to others and I try to reflect this through my photography. Giving back has been close to my heart since I joined interact in high school as I feel there’s no greater gift in giving to those who can never return the favour.

On a less serious note I’m fun loving, affectionate guy. I enjoy being outdoors and interacting with people. Food is my first love and gym will always be bae, but basketball has been a passion of mine since I first stepped on the court at the age of 12. Early on in life my father instilled upon me the joys and benefits of traveling and since then traveling has always been something I thoroughly enjoy.

How did you get into modelling?

To be honest modelling was never something I saw myself doing as basketball was always my first passion, but soon into my first year I met Donald a close friend of mine who also happened to be a professional photographer. He introduced me to the world of modelling, photography and the social aspect to it, needless to say I was instantly gripped and under his wing I grew and became more comfortable behind the camera.

If you weren’t a model what would you be doing?

If I wasn’t modelling, I’d definitely be playing basketball full time or coaching. It’s always been a passion of mine and being able to share my skill and grow with other young players is always something that I’ve held dear to me.

If you could pick one thing you would want to be for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The one thing I’d want to be for the rest of my life is without a doubt a motivational speaker. I want to inspire people to chase their dreams and be the best versions of themselves. Spreading a message of self-belief and giving thanks to the Lord.

What is your favourite memory of growing up in Zimbabwe?

Favourite memory growing up in Zim has to be my entire high school journey at St Johns’ College. The lessons I learned, friendships I made and all the rugby and basketball games played will be my fondest memories of back home.

Who are your go to people when things are not going so well?

God, my mother, my sister, Kudzi aka Tony Montana and Trizzle aka Trizzle37 on soundcloud lol.

What is your proudest achievement to date?

Proudest achievement to date has to be being made deputy head boy in high school. To be acknowledged and have the opportunity to lead the school that I loved meant everything to me.

Where do you draw your inspiration from, for everything you do in life?

LeBron James: coming from a life of poverty, being raised by a single mother and still over coming all those obstacles to be the best at what he does, being a dedicated family man has shown me that perseverance, faith and consistency will take you far.

What is a normal day in the life of Tino?

A normal day in the life of Tino starts off with gym early in the morning, followed by breakfast and then usually class.

What have been the highs and lows of your career so far?

The highs so far definitely have to be walking for Mercedes Benz Fashion week and working with brands such as Polo and Axe. On the low side I can’t really say much. It’s honestly been a blessed journey so far.

With all you’ve achieved so far, what is the biggest lesson you’ve taken from it ?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that you must never lose yourself in the success, it’s easy to get caught up in the lifestyle and forget why you started and forget those who helped you get to where you are.

What can we expect from you for the future and where do you see yourself in 10 years?

You can expect amazing things to come, there’s so much I want to do, so stay tuned. 10 years from now living comfortably and inspiring people to live their dreams.

What advice would you give to young men who look up to you as a role model?

Never let self-doubt, family or friends discourage you from chasing your dreams, God has given you everything you need to succeed. You are not defined by the circumstances you are born into so let faith guide you.

you are high up on my bucket list of people that I would be honoured to meet. Not for anything materialistic and tangible, but because of who you are as a person. You are simply young, ambitious and driven; with no further selfishness. There is nothing more valuable than the heart of passion and the mind of focus that you have.
Only Gods best for your success. Congratulations.
