In Conversation with: Grace Senga

My name is Grace Senga. I am Congolese from the Democratic Republic of Congo but I am based in Johannesburg. I am a fashion blogger, freelance stylist and entrepreneur. I own a business called More Graca Finds which specializes in finding classic, vintage clothing pieces which I sell from my Instagram page @moregracafinds. I also offer free styling services for clients who buy my pieces.

What/who do you treasure the most in life?

My relationship with God and my family.

How would you describe your style?

Naturally, because of the nature of my business, I wear a lot of vintage pieces, but I also mix them up with current trendy pieces. I like to describe my style as versatile and my personality shows through my style. I also love that I can switch it up depending on the occasion but always have a touch of “Gracia” to every outfit.

How did you get into blogging?

I used to post my outfit of the day pictures every single day on my Instagram and a few people started asking me why I didn’t have a blog. I was encouraged because quite a few people told me they would follow my blog for style tips and so eventually I started my blog. One of the reasons for my blog is to help as many people out there to be stylish while staying within their financial lane and my blog and IG are great platforms for that. I must say it wasn’t easy for me because it was something I had never done but I took the leap anyway, look at me today.

What do you hope people will take away from reading your blog?

I hope, and I believe beautiful people of God will take away that they can be stylish no matter what.  I like to emphasize the financial lane part because it is not necessary to spend money you do not have just to look good. You can still look good on a budget. Another important part that never lacks on my blog is my relationship with Christ. It is something I am not ashamed of and my hope is that my readers take away something from that.

Apart from blogging, what else do you do?

Apart from my blog and business, I am very active at my church. I am committed to serving in the house of the Lord.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you so far?

Sometimes you just have to take the leap of faith even if you are uncomfortable.

How would your family and friends describe you?

Gracia is full of joy, loving, always willing to go out of her way to help others. Sometimes putting others before herself (which isn’t always a good thing, but I do it anyway). She is full of grace!

Describe your blogging routine.

I do not have a fixed routine yet, but I plan weeks, even months in advance and then only work on a post a few days before posting. I am most consistent with my Monday Male Feature posts at the moment because my life is so busy, and I do not change the format I use for these so executing them is pretty simple. For the other blog posts which are usually personal or topic specific, I post as I get inspiration. I strongly believe my energy and the way I am feeling is best projected in my writing when I am inspired.

What are the top songs in your playlist right now?

I have way too many, here are a few

The whole ‘’Tokooos’’ Album – Fally Ipupa

Manya – Wizkid

Ma Lo – Tiwa Savage FT Wizkid and Spellz

Yeba- Kiss Daniel

OdoYewu- KiDi

FIA- Davido

What would you say to someone new to blogging or considering blogging?

Don’t be scared and put it off for too long, just start and take it from there and try your best to be consistent. The only failure is not doing it at all.

What is your favourite food?

I love traditional Congolese food – cassava leaves, with dried fish and fufu (sadza, nshima)

Do you have bloggers that you follow, if so who and why?

I follow a few bloggers, here are some of my faves:

@styleismything- I love her style and everything about her really

@skinnyhipster- I believe we kind of have the same taste and I love her style

@kurvekut- she is a plus size fashion blogger as well as a skin blogger. I learn about skin care from her

When are you happiest?

Mostly when I am eating lol or listening to music.

If you could give up anything for a year what would it be and why?

I honestly cannot think of anything..maybe a certain type of food?

What opportunities have come your way because of blogging?

I have been featured on a few blogs that I follow which is amazing. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with some stylish gentlemen on photo shoots. I have worked with other stylists and fashion designers on various occasions; that work was centred around fashion events and TV shows. I believe the future holds more.

How would you like to be remembered?

I was asked this question in a recent interview for Style by Daisy – www.stylebydaisy.com  and my answer is the same. In short, I would like to be remembered to have lived up to my name, Grace, and spread More Graca to more people!
